FSSC 22000

The FSSC 22000 standard specifically addresses agro-food producers. This certification scheme helps to achieve agri-food safety standards in production processes along the supply chain. The ISO 22000 standard harmonises HACCP-based food safety management systems. Because it applies to the management system, this standard applies only to the retailer’s supply chains with particular regard to “due diligence”. For this reason, a new certification scheme, the FSSC 22000, has been defined, combining the specific approach of systems management, HACCP methodology and detailed PRP guidelines.

The Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), the most authoritative group of stakeholders gathering agro-food companies, has defined a widely recognized set of criteria to define the certification schemes for agro-food safety applicable to the entire industry. Based on these criteria, a GAP analysis was performed on the ISO 22000 standard to compare it with GFSI specifications.

The FSSC 22000 program considers the information that emerged from this analysis and becomes the fifth certification scheme approved by the Global Food Safety Initiative after the BRC, IFS, SQF 2000 and Dutch HACCP programs.

The FSSC 22000 certification scheme is the effective synthesis of three approaches:

– A powerful framework for the specific management system, integrated in the company’s general management system and complying with other standards such as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001;

– An effective risk analysis methodology and risk management based on HACCP principles, which can optimize efficiency and effectiveness in the field of agri-food safety;

– A detailed program prerequisite guide, as required by ISO 22000 7.2 and to meet the specific requirements of retailers regarding due diligence and related issues.

ISO 9001

ISO 9001 has been designed as a valuable business enhancement tool for organizations of any size and is theinternational standard for the Quality Management System (SGQ).

ISO 9001 certification is a valid support for:

– Improve continuously, optimize operations and reduce costs

– Win more business and compete in bidding

– Meet more customers

– Be more resilient and build a sustainable business

– Show that you have strong corporate governance

– Work efficiently with your stakeholders and supply chain

ISO 14001

ISO 14001 is recognized as a standard for Environmental Management System certification for organizations of all sizes. Based on the Plan-Do- Check-Act methodology, it provides a systematic framework for integrating environmental protection practices, preventing pollution, reducing waste, energy consumption, and materials.

In addition to demonstrating the organization’s responsibility for the environment, certification can significantly reduce the risk of violating environmental regulations, and therefore penalties in case of infringement. Companies implementing an Environmental Management System get a reduction in costs, an improvement in their reputation on the market, and greater competitiveness of their brand.

The Halal Certification by the WHA

The Halal Certification by the WHA World Halal Authority (WHA) is a Halal Certification Body that respects international quality standards and thanks to its collaboration and affiliation with a worldwide certification network, it is able to issue internationally recognized certifications.The term HALAL, in Islamic doctrine, indicates all that for a Muslim is lawful. It is not just related to nutrition, but it includes all the actions and behaviors of everyday life.

– HALAL certification is a quality certification that ensures that the product complies with the rules of Islamic law (sharia), in addition to compliance with Italian and European hygiene and safety regulations.

– HALAL certification is also considered to be a valuable tool for those companies that want to initiate export plans that want to increase their exports, or perhaps for those with an internationalization plan, or simply those companies interested in producing new products, paying particular attention to consumer protection.

– HALAL certification, in its present form, has undergone modifications to meet market requirements and thus be vanguard with the latest technologies used in the industrial sector.
Such mutations have favored the establishment of a standard to be followed to ensure that a qualified certification body is recognized internationally. The Halal Quality System represents all of these standards, which are applied to allow the HALAL Certification Body to be recognized and approved by the governmental and non-governmental international organizations operating in the HALAL sector.
