FSSC 22000

SER is certified for FSSC 22000

The FSSC 22000 standard specifically addresses agro-food producers. This certification scheme helps to achieve agri-food safety standards in production processes along the supply chain. The ISO 22000 standard harmonises HACCP-based food safety management systems. Because it applies to the management system, this standard applies only to the retailer’s supply chains with particular regard to “due diligence”. For this reason, a new certification scheme, the FSSC 22000, has been defined, combining the specific approach of systems management, HACCP methodology and detailed PRP guidelines.

The Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), the most authoritative group of stakeholders gathering agro-food companies, has defined a widely recognized set of criteria to define the certification schemes for agro-food safety applicable to the entire industry. Based on these criteria, a GAP analysis was performed on the ISO 22000 standard to compare it with GFSI specifications.

The FSSC 22000 program considers the information that emerged from this analysis and becomes the fifth certification scheme approved by the Global Food Safety Initiative after the BRC, IFS, SQF 2000 and Dutch HACCP programs.

The FSSC 22000 certification scheme is the effective synthesis of three approaches:

– A powerful framework for the specific management system, integrated in the company’s general management system and complying with other standards such as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001;

– An effective risk analysis methodology and risk management based on HACCP principles, which can optimize efficiency and effectiveness in the field of agri-food safety;

– A detailed program prerequisite guide, as required by ISO 22000 7.2 and to meet the specific requirements of retailers regarding due diligence and related issues.

ISO 14001

Ser is ISO 14001 certified.

ISO 14001 is recognized as a standard for Environmental Management System certification for organizations of all sizes. Based on the Plan-Do- Check-Act methodology, it provides a systematic framework for integrating environmental protection practices, preventing pollution, reducing waste, energy consumption, and materials.

In addition to demonstrating the organization’s responsibility for the environment, certification can significantly reduce the risk of violating environmental regulations, and therefore penalties in case of infringement. Companies implementing an Environmental Management System get a reduction in costs, an improvement in their reputation on the market, and greater competitiveness of their brand.

Kosher Certification

SER is Kosher certified.

An increasing number of people are adopting kosher food because the koshercertification has become recognized as a symbol of purity, safety, cleanliness and quality. By having our products labeled with the kosher certification, we can open up the possibility of attracting new clientele.

In general, supervision focuses on two aspects:
• Ingredients (all ingredients and ingredients used in a product must be Kosher)
• Processing plants (they must be kosher and can not be used, if not properly Kosherized)
A representative of the rabbi makes frequent and regular visits to the factory without notice, in order to verify that there have not been any changes that could compromise his kosher status.
To put it simply, having the kosher certification on our products will increase their marketability because more and more people are concerned about what they put into their bodies and where their food comes from. There’s no tougher food inspector than a rabbi, who determines whether food is kosher by visiting processing plants, working with slaughterhouses, and tracing ingredients back to their beginnings. The standards of these rabbis are often far higher than those adhered to by government inspection agencies.

The RSPO Certification

Ser is RSPO certified.

Certification according to the RSPO Supply Chain Certification standard means having subjected its supply chain in all its key steps, its policies and operating procedures to a validation of conformity, by an independent third party, with respect to the following points:
• Compliance with local and international laws and regulations;
• Demonstrated commitment to long-term financial and economic sustainability;
• Use of agricultural best practices by growers and millers;
• Environmental responsibility, including conservation of natural resources and biodiversity;
• Safeguarding employees and the community affected by cultivation or production;
• Responsible management of new seedlings;
• Commitment to continuous improvement.

Among the advantages that this certification implies for the companies that choose it, there is certainly a clear positioning with respect to the sustainability of its product and its own actions: if the objective of RSPO is the transformation of the markets, so that palm oil sustainable is the norm, since it is estimated that more than 16% of the world palm oil can be certified RSPO. For the final consumer, the advantage consists in having a product warranty, through a mark that the palm oil used is certified as “sustainable” (RSPO Oil), or traceable along the entire supply chain, since planting origin.
